Trouble opening picture attachments

(Article ID: 001581)
Summary

When you receive an email with a picture attachment you are unable to open it. You double click on the attachment and nothing seems to happen. This has been known to happen to people who use Microsoft Photo Editor to view graphics attachments.

More Information
This problem is usually not that the program is not opening, but the program is not opening visibly (i.e. the program launches and opens the attachment, but the window is not on the screen).

Step-by-step instructions

Try the following to solve this problem:

  1. Open a graphics attachment as you normally would.
  2. Right click on the Microsoft Photo Editor button on your task bar and select Move.
  3. Press an arrow key (up, down, left, right) and then move your mouse. This will cause the window to "attach" to your mouse pointer.
  4. Left click to place the window on your screen.
